CHOOSING GOD’S WAY
By Pastor Denotra Johnson
Prov 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
The word of God is given to us to prepare us for the time that we’re living in. If we are children of the Most High God, then we must be prepared for the end time prophesies that the scriptures give us. As we see where we are in the natural as a nation and the world, there seem to be many paths that the world has developed that is contradicting the path that God has preordained for us to walk.
It seems as if daily we are asked to make choices or choose a way that is convenient, profitable or easy. There was a time when there weren’t as many choices to make. But today we have veered in a direction where the world seem to demand that we walk according to its directions. And as Christians we must choose the path we take based on the word of God. In many cases, the decisions are already made for you by political entities.
We are living in a time where if you don’t make a decision, one is made for you. The world is pressing in on us, to get us to make the choice that will benefit whatever powers that are seeking control. Satan still calls himself the god of this world. And the world is pressing in on us to get us to make the choices that will benefit whatever powers that are seeking control. There is no wonder that there is so much confusion in our nation and the world as to which way to go. The word of God is explicit in the way we should go. We must obey God
Prov 3:6-7In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7 Be not wise in
thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.
James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and
upbraideth not; and it shall be given to him.
In order to make a wise choice it is necessary to have information. According to I Cor. 14:33, God is not the author of confusion. God did not create this chaotic state that the world and our nation is in. God’s way is the way of peace. The world’s way is chaos and confusion. Satan brings confusion and discord that contributes to violence which we are experiencing today in a great way. So it is necessary that as we must make a choice as to which way we will go—the world’s way or God’s way.
Prov 4:7 Wisdom is the principle thing; therefore get wisdom; and with all thy getting, get understanding.
As you look around you will see how the world and the things of the world seem to suck you in until you are not in control but out of control. There seems to be a rainbow that has the promise of a pot of gold at the end of it—all kind of schemes to bring you under the power of the worlds system. Remember Satan is called the god of this world in 2 Corinthians 4:4. Then there is God’s way. When the world system begins to press in causing pressure, confusion and futility, Jesus says: Come unto me, all ye that are heavy laiden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls. Matt 11:28-29
Choose life
God’s way is rest. God’s way will bring you out from under the pressures of the world system. So God is saying come to Him. You have a choice before you. There is no rest and no peace without Jesus. He puts it another way: the thief cometh not but for to steal, kill and destroy. I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.
Then He tells us to choose life. God always wants us to make the right choice. He gives us His word that we may be able to know His will for us. But the decision to follow His leading is always ours.
Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 1 Cor
14:10There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.
Only God knows the end of all the turmoil that we are in the midst of. It is going to affect us all. But as we stay connected to the Lord, letting the Holy Spirit guide us in the way to go and the decisions to make, God will be in control of the life that we have chosen in Him.
Choose the way of obedience
Unfortunately, the word of God is being twisted to draw God’s people away from the truth of the word. The word of God tells us how things will be in the last days.
2 Thess 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
Our receiving all that God has promised in His word is contingent upon our decision to obey the word of God. God has already made provision to give you what He promises. He is waiting on His people to do what His word commands us to do. The world tells us that because God is a good God He will tolerate our disobedience. But the word gives a different picture. Obedience to God’s word and His will for us opens the door to God’s blessings. In the days that we’re living in, we need God’s blessing, protection, and directions, but it all depends upon our receiving His correction. John 16:13 Howbeit when He the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.We are living in the last days that we see the word of God being fulfilled before our eyes. We must be prayerful, seeking God’s direction and being obedient to His word.
Choose the way of holiness
The word of God is the guideline for God’s children to follow. It is a guideline for us to follow. There is no exception. Many as we know have fallen into moral sins, pride has come in, strife and division. We are in the time the bible speaks of as the great falling away. This does not mean that all will walk away from God, but as we live a life that does not reflect holiness and separation from the world’s system, we have slid back from the obedience to God’s word to Be ye holy for I am holy. 1 Peter 1:16
Holiness is complete surrender and dedication to the word and will of God. We must make a choice to live the life that God requires us to live, not play games and live the way the world does. We cannot fool God. We know the word of God does not change because society is changing. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Luke 16:13. The amplified Bible describes “Mammon” as riches or anything in which you trust and on which you rely.
God said that those who would live Godly would suffer persecution, but He also said that if you would submit yourself, therefore unto God, and resist the devil he would flee from you.Your decision must be one of submission. The choice is one that will make the difference of blessings or curses. The word submission has lost some of its meaning. Man is trying to get everything submitted untothem, their plan, their political opinions or their plan for the world. Remember that the word of God tells us in Prov 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. If we could get every believer truly submitted to God, everyone would be in the place where God has called us to be and there would be a different environment than what we are living in.
Choose the way of love
God’s way is the way of love. As believers we qualify love. We’ve separated love into categories—filial love, eros love and agape love. But when we look at love as Jesus taught it, it is not something we can qualify, separate, use discriminately or withhold from those we consider unworthy of our love.
John 15:12-13 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Jesus puts it this way: Matt 5:46-47 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not evenpublicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
In other words, we cannot love just those who are lovely. As believers we tend to love each other and those we can gain something from. It is a cancer that is permeating our country today. Racism, class, status and many other ways Satan is separating us from God’s word to love one another. What is the answer? REPENT! Love is a commandment, but love is also a decision of the heart, a choice that one makes. Once the decision is made to love unconditionally according to God’s word, miracles happen, healings take place in the life of one who has chosen God’s way. Healing of the spirit, soul and body.
